How the countdown works

A 09:00–18:00 shift

That's nine hours from start to finish. With a 60-minute break, working time is eight hours. At 15:00, you have three hours until home time.

22:00 to 07:00 the next morning

Enter 22:00 as your start and 07:00 as your finish. The finish falls on the next day. After midnight, keep the shift date set to the day you actually started.

Do breaks change the countdown?

The countdown is real time from now to your finishing time. Breaks are only subtracted from total working hours. Progress covers the full shift, including breaks.

Where do my settings go?

Your shift date, start, finish, and breaks are saved in this browser. Ongoing night shifts and future dates are kept. Finished shifts on past dates roll forward to today. On a shared device, clear the site's browser data when you're done.

What if home time passes or I close the tab?

After your finishing time, the clock shows 00:00:00. Return to the tab and it recalculates from the current time. For your next shift, change the date and apply it.

This tool follows the schedule you enter. Your employer's attendance or payroll calculations may differ.

Good to know before you start

How are working hours calculated?

Working hours are the time between your start and finish, minus total break minutes. A 09:00–18:00 shift with a 60-minute break has eight working hours. Breaks do not shorten the countdown to your finishing time.

Can I use it for an overnight shift?

Yes. If the finish time is earlier than the start time, it falls on the following calendar day. For 22:00–07:00, select the date you actually started, even when entering the shift after midnight.

Which time zone does the timer use?

The live English timer uses this device’s local time zone. The Korean edition uses Asia/Seoul. If JavaScript is disabled, this page’s server calculation uses Asia/Seoul; enable JavaScript for a live countdown in your local time.

Do I need an account, and where are settings saved?

No account is needed. When browser storage is available, your shift settings stay in this browser. On shared devices, clear the site’s browser data after use.

Is this a payroll calculator?

No. It helps you check a schedule you enter. It does not reproduce an employer’s attendance rules or payroll calculations.
